Eyes can be captivating and express emotion. As the saying goes, they provide the world with a window to your soul. But, if you suffer from under eye wrinkles, your eyes could make you look like an old hag!

Now, I say that in a light-hearted way… but the truth is, your eyes can make you appear a lot older than you’d like. Many times in fact, the very first signs of aging show themselves as fine lines around the eyes. These are affectionately known as crow’s feet.

I don’t know about you, but I can do without having a bird tracking his little footprints all over my face! It goes without saying that finding a way to smooth out under eye wrinkles is a priority for anyone who wants to look younger.

What Causes Under Eye Wrinkles?

1. Facial Expressions – Everyday facial movements such as smiling and laughing can eventually result in wrinkles. Of course these actions are necessary and even enjoyable so I don’t recommend you stop laughing and smiling… there are other preventative measures you should focus on instead!

2. Squinting – When you spend a lot of time outside, you’re more likely to squint. Be sure you wear sunglasses to avoid this natural reaction and protect the delicate eye area from excessive sun exposure. Although sunscreen can help with protecting the skin from sunburn, it won’t help with the brightness that causes you to squint in the first place.

3. Tugging And Pulling The Skin – It’s important to treat the skin around and under the eyes with extreme care. That means gently cleansing the area and applying anti aging creams using a light touch. If you get aggressive and start rubbing the skin too much, it’s going to take a toll eventually. Under eye skin is sensitive and thinner than on other areas of the face, so it requires a bit of extra care and tenderness.

4. Smoking – Although most of us think of wrinkles around the lips when we think of smokers, smoking actually aggravates wrinkles around the eyes and all over the face as well. Cigarette smoke contains free radicals which cause all sorts of trouble, including premature aging. Not only that, it makes your skin tone dull and damages connective tissue which can lead to sagging. For the sake of your appearance and more importantly, your overall health, it’s best to kick the habit now. And if you don’t smoke – don’t even think about starting!

5. Improper Skin Care Practices – Some people make the mistake of not using quality anti aging product. They either buy what’s on sale at the drugstore or they don’t realize they need to use a good product around their eyes and fail to use anything at all. And others are just overwhelmed with the choices and have no clue what they should be using. Do yourself a favor and get hold of a high quality eye cream that’s effective for lines, wrinkles, puffiness and other signs of aging – and use it every day as directed.

Preventing under eye wrinkles is ideal, but it’s likely that you already have fine lines or wrinkles around your eyes and unfortunately, prevention is not an option any longer. You can prevent additional ones from forming, but finding an under eye wrinkle treatment option that works is what you really need at this point.

If you find yourself in this situation, first stop the problem from getting worse. If you have existing sun damage, simply wearing a bit of sunscreen and remembering to wear sunglasses or a hat when you’re outside can help a lot. Also, if you find yourself squinting a lot, it may mean you need to get your eyesight checked. Repetitive squinting is terrible for wrinkles under the eyes.

Common Under Eye Wrinkle Treatments

Unfortunately, it’s all too common for women to choose under eye wrinkles surgery or injections as a way to get rid of lines and wrinkles on their faces, including around the eyes. In fact, when faced with the first visible under eye wrinkles, Botox is often the first choice of treatment these days.

While these invasive treatment options can and do work for many women, they often need to be repeated as time goes on. And let’s not forget, these types of treatments to come with side effects and risks. When you stop and think about it, these should not be the first solution you try but rather what you turn to when the other options stop working for you.

A Safer Approach…

A safer way to smooth out wrinkles is to use and effective under eye wrinkle cream. While there are many different creams to choose from, you should know that LifeCell skin cream not only fights the wrinkles on your face, it’s also fantastic under the eyes. I share a lot more about this in my LifeCell reviews section where I talk about testing the cream on my own face.

Just keep this in mind when it comes to dealing with under eye wrinkles… whatever product you choose, make sure it provides the much-needed moisture to the delicate under eye area. Even people who have oily skin generally have normal or dry skin around the eyes.
